Given the unreliability of weather prediction in Oregon, even two days
out is sometimes chancy. However, the forecasts are so relentlessly
positive, I've got to spread this around:
There's a couple of rides Saturday that should be fun. If you play it
right, you could do both!:
1. Former Portland police chief Tom Potter is leading a 10 mile ride
from Glencoe Elementary School (825 SE 51st Ave) at 9AM Saturday. He's
campaigning for mayor under the slogan "Vote the recumbent, not the
incumbent." You can see some photos of him and look over his campaign
slate at http://www.tomformayor.com/ (No endorsement implied or
intended. Besides, I live in a different state.)
2. At 10AM Saturday, I'm leading the annual Rites of Spring ride,
starting at the Gateway Transit Center in Portland (NE99th between
Glisan and Halsey). We'll do about 35 miles along mostly bike lanes and
off-street paths out around Gresham, lunch in Troutdale, and return.
I've got a pretty flyer at

Now, about the weather: the forecast is for mostly sunny, with highs in
the mid-60's. They're predicting some wind, though: from the East at 21
mph with gusts to 40+. However, if you're familiar with the route,
you'll know that we sneak up to this from the side, then head west on
Marine Drive with the wind directly at our backs. Big-time Tailwinds,
baby! Beeee therrrrrre!
More Portland rides appear on the OHPV calendar:
