Subject: calling all Trikes
The popularity of recumbent trikes has led to the creation of a
separate trike class to be included in May 1 Calvin's 12 hour Challenge
which is held on the back roads between Springfield & Cedervill Ohio.
This is a well organized event sponsored by the Dayton Cycle Club that
draws all ages and ability of cyclist from around the country. Several
years ago they started including recumbents and within a couple years
split of the full fairing recumbnets ( HPV ) and now are splitting the
class again so the trikes can have there own class. The trike class will
be structured the same as the recumbnet class allowing tail box / fairing
& wheel disk. If you choose to use more fairings you will compete in the
HPV class.
The corse is flat to gentle rolling hills. The event starts at
7:30 and heads out on the 50 mile loop and you repeat this loop as many
times as you can. By mid afternoon you can switch to the 7 mile loop and
continue to ride it until 7:30. There is two check in on the 50 and one
the 7 and both are stocked with food and water and restrooms.
The female recumbent class has never had an entry so ladies there
is a record just weighting to be set by one of you recumbent riders. They
also have a class for recumbents tandem that has never has any entry.
