Hi everyone,

Its hard to believe that January 28, 2006 marks the 20th anniversary of
the Challenger Disaster and that I was a 7th grader when it happened.

January 27th, 1967 marks the 39th anniversary of the Apollo 1 Tragedy.

Also this week, Feb 1, 2003, is the 3rd anniversary of the Columbia
Disaster.

The January 28, 1986, launch of the space shuttle Challenger was
expected to be a historic first-schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe was to
be the first private ordinary U.S. citizen flown into space. Instead,
the Challenger flight marked one of the greatesttragedies in American
space exploration when the shuttle exploded 73 seconds after liftoff,
killing all seven crew members on board. With the shuttle’s explosion
came serious questions such as could the tragedy have been averted?

I wanted to share this website with you. In my first year teaching 6th
grade science, our school took part in the Challenger Center's Mission
Simulation program, and the kids LOVED it! Each kid has a job to do and
some students were at Mission Control while some were on board the
shuttle. It was such a great experience. They also have tons of
