Tour of MO Stage 6 finish in St Joseph  Brent Hugh
 Sep 12, 2009 21:46 PDT
A large crowd came out to see the finish of Stage 6 of the Tour of
Missouri in St. Joseph today.

Italian Francesco Chicchi took the stage while American Dave
Zabriskie retained his yellow jersey.

As with all other stages of the Tour this year, larger crowds than
last year greeted riders in St. Joseph, and the Local Organizing
Committee for St. Joseph really outdid themselves in planning a great
Expo and a series of fun events all day long:

On the political front, there was an amazing display of bi-partisan
support for the Tour today as Lt Gov Peter Kinder (R) and President
Pro Tem of the Missouri Senate Charlie Shields (R) shared the Tour of
Missouri awards stage with three members of the Carnahan family
(D)--Robin, Jean, and Tom:

The left many of us to wonder where Governor Nixon lies in all
this--he and his staff were in their offices Thursday, the day the
Tour finished in front of the Capitol in Jefferson City. Today
reports are that the Governor's motorcade was stopped by the Tour's
barricades and closed streets as he navigated around the Capitol Thursday.

Yet the Governor can't even step out of his vehicle had shake hands
with Tour of Missouri spectators for five minutes--when he is right
there at the event already?

Is Governor Nixon really concerned with the welfare of all
Missourians here, or is he simply nursing a grudge?

Either way, your calls and emails in support of the Tour really help:

   Call: 573-751-3222
Ask: Governor Nixon, will you support the 2010 Tour of Missouri?
