The crowd in Kansas City Sunday for Stage 7 of the 2009 Tour of
Missouri was nothing short of amazing--far larger than the KC crowds
we've seen in past years (large as those were . . . ).
The race was amazing as well--sprinter Francesco Chicchi said after
Stage 6 that he hadn't seen such hard racing anywhere outside the
Tour de France.

On a related matter, I have an appointment Friday to talk with
Governor Nixon's Director of Policy and his Press Secretary. I am
planning to talk with them not only about the Tour but more general
about what the Governor can and should be doing in support of
bicycling in Missouri.
In the meanwhile, your calls, letters, and emails to Governor Nixon's
office really help:
Email: http://governor.mo.gov/contact/
Call: 573-751-3222
Ask: Governor Nixon, will you support the 2010 Tour of Missouri
**and** will you support bicycle friendly policies for the stage,
including Complete Streets and funding for bicycling & pedestrian
facilities in any future MoDOT funding?
