Thanks to all of you who came to Alumni Day. It was a day filled
with fun and nostalgia. See the article below and come and
check out the pictures.
Speaking of great things the school is selling a 30th Anniversary
Polo Shirt but hurry as this will be a limited edition for a
great price of $25. I've seen it in person and it looks great.

Also thanks to those that came to Homecoming unfortunately we
didn't win the game this year but the band continued to play,
the cheerleaders continued to cheer, food and drinks continued
to be sold and the football team continued to do their best.
Finally I have upgraded the membership form it's now a printable
PDF file (in plain English just click on it and your browser
will bring it up for a nice and perfect print... plus it looks
much better now). Hmmm don't you think that would be a good
reason to join today...

On August 18 a new day dawned at Moanalua as to celebrate 30
years of existence the Alumni Association held the first ever
Alumni Day, an all class reunion. We chose a nice sunny day
and alumni and their families made the trip that to some was
over 20 years in the making... back to the campus. Everybody
was ushered into the brand new Student Center auditorium where
they learned more about where Moanalua is today. Principal
Darryl Galera, Athletic Director Dana Dias and several others
gave presentation of current programs at Moanalua. Galera also
showed up a cutting edge video presentation done by some students
using technology similiar to the digtal system at KITV news.
The founder of the Alumni Association Calvin Shimomura outlined
why the association was created and how the seeds planted many
years ago are now sprouting and encouraged people to become
active in the association.
Then it was off to the campus tour done by the Travel Industry
Management students of Mrs. Cassilas. They took us on a
journey that brought back memories for some and awe's from
others as they noticed new buildings and how different the school
looks today. It was then time to return to the cafeteria for
lunch, shave ice, door prizes, games for the children and nostalgia
areas featuring each decade of Moanalua.. the 70's, 80's and 90's.
Tables were filled with yearbooks, cheerleader uniforms, pictures,
clothing, prom glasses, football jerseys of each time period.
People of many classes were able to meet and talk to each other
and several of the teachers that made an apperance. It was our
goal to allow people plenty to time to reminisce about old times,
to make new friends, and to see just how far Moanalua has come
and where it is headed. All in all it was a successful day
and who knows maybe there will be more Alumni Days in the future.

as we would like to know what you liked/did not like about Alumni
Day and what other things you would have liked to see on that
Day.
