Welcome Message
---------------

Happy New Year. I hope 2006 has gotten off to a great start
for you. In this issue we highlight the two biggest things
of 2006 for the Alumni Association.

First the second annual Kina'ole Awards dinner on February 16
which will honor the first Princiapl of MoHS James Kim as well
as Eddie Maruyama (79), Angie Baraquio (94) and Dean Yamashiroya (79).
It will be a night to remember with all proceeds going to the school.
(visit our page at http://www.global-hawaii.com/mohsaa for full details)

Secondly the major annoucement you have been waiting for. I am
happy to formally announce the launching of my "pet project".
Call it "MeneSpace" or "MenePages" but it is thew newest and best
way to find long lost classmates and keep in touch with other alumni.
This is a new FREE service that allows you to create a profile
complete with pictures and very similiar to Classmates.com or
Myspace.com. You also have a guestbook that others can sign as well
as the ability to e-mail other alumni or add alumni as friends and
even invite other alumni to join. Communuties for each class allow
them a private area to discuss reunion related issues or just chat
among their classmates. In the near future in conjunction with
Global Pau Hana there will be activities members will be able to
come out to. So don't delay visit our new site and be one of the
first to sign up <http://maa.thepeoplebridge.com>.

Joining the Alumni Association is easier than ever and your
membership dues help fund newsletters like this as well as our
print publication to members, a scholarship for a graduating
senior and help our ability to help classes with their reunions.
And its only $10. If you haven't yet joined or renewed please
consider it. You either print the form at the end of this mail,
visit and print membership PDF file or instantly pay using our
PayPal option. Each member increases the good the alumni
association can do.

Until next time...

MeneSpace/MenePages
-------------------
<http://maa.thepeoplebridge.com>

On Feburary 7, 2006 a new day has dawned. I am happy to announce
that MeneSpace/MenePages is now live and available for use. This
is a world-wide grassroots community that is designed to connect
alumni of Moanalua High School:

-- Create a personal profile complete with pictures
-- Built in guestbook for friends to sign
-- Add friends and communities
-- Special events and reunion information
-- Search for other alumni by name or by common interest
-- Picture Galleries
-- Ability to e-mail other alumni

All that is missing is YOU. There is no cost to signup and unlike
Classmates.com there is no cost to use any of the services. All we
ask is you spread the word because the more Alumni that sign up the
better service it will be for everybody. We are still looking for
a few willing volunteers for the following:

Class Representative -- This person will moderate a section
for their class (no programming experience necessary). They
will also have the ability to post reunion information and
will be among the select few to preview before we go live.

Article Writers -- If you want to write about Moanalua or your
class or just give us updates we want to hear from you. Info
can go on our website and well as in our print publication.

Moderators -- We are looking for a person or two to help our
Mene Chat site. Must have a Yahoo account and will have the
ability to delete spam posts and also make new posts to generate
conversation.

Kina'Ole Awards Dinner 2006
---------------------------

Moanalua High School PTSA, school administration and alumni will
present the school's second Menehune Kina'ole Awards at a banquet
in February 16, 2006.

The concept of Kina'ole, the brainchild of Moanalua High School
principal Darrel Galera, can be best described as "flawlessness."

Jeff Brock, Moanalua High School PTSA president, explains that
the committee dubbed the event, "A Moonlit Night in Moanalua,"
drawing upon popular Hawaiian legends that attribute many great
deeds to the Menehune, such as the building of fishponds, roads,
temples and other magnificent constructions in the course of a
single, miraculous, moonlit night. "Having graduated its first
class in 1975, Moanalua High School has, like its nickname,
built an impressive tradition of excellence and service to the
community in a short period of time. This award is a means of
celebrating the accomplishments of its graduates, and saying
'mahalo' to friends," Brock adds.

In addition to raising pride in and establishing tradition at
the relatively young school, the event provides a meaningful
way to raise much-needed funds to cover various school expenses,
from textbooks and supplies, to fans and air conditioners,
and other needs identified by the faculty, staff and students.

The event will feature entertainment provided by the school's
acclaimed music department and videos documenting the
accomplishments of the honorees, produced by the school's award
winning broadcast journalism program. Donations from the community
will be featured in a silent auction, adding to the fundraising
potential of the event.

Individual tickets are $75. Donations and various sponsorship
levels are available for tables of 12 guests. "We invite members
of the community - and especially all parents and Moanalua High
School alumni - to join us," Galera says. "It will be a fun and
memorable affair that will help to raise much-needed funds to
support the continued success of Moanalua High School students
and teachers, and ensure that many more of our outstanding
graduates will continue to inspire and enrich our community with
the spirit of Kina'ole in the years to come."

To purchase tickets visit the Alumni Website at:
<http://www.global-hawaii.com/mohsaa> or contact Jeff or Tami Brock
at 837-0159 or Moanalua High School at 837-8455.
