2 Ne. 12:3
And many people shall go and say,
Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain
of the Lord, to the house of the God of
Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways,
and we will walk in his paths; for out of
Zion shall go forth the law, and the word
of the Lord from Jerusalem.
Hymn #5, “High on the Mountain Top”
Sonnet 502 Reflections on 2 Nephi 12:3
By Tom Matkin, July 11, 2009
A joke with heavy wisdom is the one
Where someone says “You can’t get there from here.”
And also do we sometimes just for fun
Select a road “least travelled by” that’s clear.
And think about the saying wise and smart
That says that any road at all will do
To satisfy your undecided heart
If you don’t know just where you’re going to.
Come to the mountain of the Lord and ask
If it be true that all roads lead to Rome
Or must a certain strait and narrow path
Be chosen for a child to get back home.
And can we have all that the Father hath
If we don’t learn to walk his given path?
