Mal. 4:5-6
Behold, I will send you Elijah the
prophet before the coming of the great
and dreadful day of the LORD:
And he shall turn the heart of the
fathers to the children, and the heart of
the children to their fathers, lest I come
and smite the earth with a curse.
Hymn #300, “Families Can Be Together Forever”
Sonnet 503 Reflections on Malachi 4: 5-6
By Tom Matkin, July 13, 2009
We know this scripture means to turn your heart
To those who died before they got the chance
In life to share in the great gospel part
That’s needed to eternally advance.
And some are expert at researching lines
And others get to temples quite a lot
And some do family scrap booking designs
While others helped the people that they taught.
But even for the ones who don’t do such
Who never get their generations found
They honour the intent almost as much
By turning heart to family that’s around.
We save from many curses when we strive
To turn our hearts to family that’s alive.
