Moro. 10:4-5
And when ye shall receive these things,
I would exhort you that ye would ask
God, the Eternal Father, in the name of
Christ, if these things are not true; and
if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with
real intent, having faith in Christ, he will
manifest the truth of it unto you, by the
power of the Holy Ghost.
And by the power of the Holy Ghost
ye may know the truth of all things.
Hymn #143, “Let the Holy Spirit Guide”
Sonnet 508 Reflections on Moroni 10:4-5
By Tom Matkin July 23, 2009
When baking something wonderful and sweet
Like bread or cake or pie or quiche or tart
The recipe for such a pleasant treat
Requires attention to its every part.
You won’t get far if features are left out
(A bread without its leavening won’t rise)
And so the baker wisely is devout
To every step the recipe applies.
And recipes for following truth’s way
Must be a code worth more than any bread
And more important therefore to obey
The rules that lead to such a golden thread.
So ponder each instruction in this verse
The most important recipe on earth.
