Sonnet 657 Reflections on Alma 12:30  Tom

Alma 12:30
30 And they began from that time forth to call on his name;
therefore God conversed with men, and made known unto them the
plan of redemption, which had been prepared from the foundation
of the world; and this he made known unto them according to their
faith and repentance and their holy works.

Sonnet 657 Reflections on Alma 12:30
By Tom Matkin

I could have written here of how a prayer
Is what unlocks the silent vault above
Or how the God of heaven longs to share
His plan prepared in wisdom, trust and love.

Instead I'd like to note another three
Three things you need to give your prayer time zing
So if your prayers aren't what they ought to be
Make you sure all three of these are what you bring.

The first is faith, the guiding light to heaven
And next repent to clear your path of sin
And thirdly, and this really is the leaven
Don't let your list of holy works run thin.

If “holy works” are missing from your days
Perhaps that's why your prayers seem in a haze.
