Meg Ryan Aligns With Rob Reiner's I Am Your Child Foundation, The
Entertainment Industry Foundation, Excite@Home, and Cable Partners to Launch
PSA at Exclusive Online Premiere
Ryan Joins Star-Studded Campaign to Further Awareness of Early
Childhood Development
REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Excite@Home (Nasdaq: ATHM) today
unveiled the exclusive online premiere of Meg Ryan's public service
announcement (PSA) for the I Am Your Child Foundation (IAYC), The
Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) and Exc-@Home. The 30-second PSA
will launch on October 4th at www.excite.com/megryan to help raise awareness
of early childhood development and the Excite@Home First Years Service.
Excite@Home cable partners AT&T Broadband and Internet Services, Comcast
Corporation and Cox Communications will promote the PSA in cities where the
@Home(R) subscription broadband internet service is marketed, and will
provide additional exposure for the PSA through spots on their local cable
systems in those markets.

Excite@Home users will get an exclusive look at the spot featuring Ryan in a
unique role -- cooing, cuddling, laughing, and reading with young children --
before it hits the airwaves later this month. IAYC founder Rob Reiner
provides the voiceover highlighting parenting tips available at
http://firstyears.excite.com and on the "Lifestyle" channel on the @Home(R)
subscription broadband Internet service, and Eric Clapton performs the
background music with his version of "Stormy Weather." The spot is directed
by Reiner's wife and co-founder of IAYC, Michele Singer Reiner.
3RD IN A CELEBRITY CAMPAIGN SERIES
The Ryan PSA is the third star-studded ingredient of IAYC and Excite@Home's
nationwide campaign to raise public awareness of the importance of early
childhood development. The first parts of the campaign -- featuring Bruce
Willis and Michelle Pfeiffer (who co-star in Reiner's upcoming film, "The
Story of Us") -- ran on billboards and will continue to appear in national
magazines including VANITY FAIR, VOGUE, PEOPLE, IN STYLE and U.S. NEWS &
WORLD REPORT. Ryan's spot will be the first video PSA for the IAYC, EIF,
Excite campaign, and will air on local market cable stations throughout the
4th quarter of 1999.
The PSA will also be screened at the premiere of "The Story of Us" in New
York later in October.
"This campaign brings together a wonderful group of people to raise public
awareness about the importance of early childhood development," said IAYC
founder Rob Reiner. "Meg, Bruce and Michelle have donated their time, while
Excite@Home is providing online expertise to educate millions of parents and
caregivers. And Excite@Home's cable partners are providing even wider reach
through television."
Ryan, a mother herself and one of the world's most popular actresses, has
joined with one of the Internet's most successful and innovative programs,
firstyears.excite.com. In April, IAYC, EIF and Excite@Home launched
firstyears.excite.com, a comprehensive online resource which offers valuable
information covering a child's first three years of development.
"The prestige of Meg Ryan, Rob Reiner, and Eric Clapton underscores the
importance of the IAYC message and the first years campaign," said George
Bell, President Excite@Home, "Child care advice is one of the fastest growing
content areas on the world wide web, and we are very encouraged that the
attention drawn from this powerful Public Service Announcement and the rest
of the ad campaign will take this initiative to the next level."
Excite@Home has agreed to donate $2 to the I Am Your child Foundation for
everyone who completes a new registration to personalize an Excite Start Page
at www.excite.com up to a total of $3,000,000. (Complete details on Excite's
donation program can be found at
http://firstyears.excite.com/about/donation). The money will be invested in
furthering the public's awareness of the importance of early childhood
development, though the activities of the I Am Your Child Foundation.
