MWCCC,
Below is an e-mail from Daniel Matheny at USA Cycling. This is the
first in a series about the new rules and how the relate to
nationals. When I tried forwarding it last week, it apparently did
not get through to the list. I put the attachment on the web at
http://mwccc.org/sp08/files/2008_Rulebook_Change_Summary.pdf.

| | Hello all Collegiate Cyclists,
This is the 1st of 5 important emails that I’m sending to you
through your Conference Directors. Please read these thoroughly as
they are meant to highlight things that may affect you, rules,
National Championships, qualifications, etc.
New Rulebook Summary
The board of trustees of Collegiate Cycling rewrote the collegiate
rulebook for 2008. While much of that rewrite was to improve
usability, they also made several important changes to the rules,
including to rules that govern qualifying for, competing at and
scoring individual and team points in national championships.
As we prepare to contest Road Nationals in Colorado in early May, I
urge all coaches, team leaders and riders to familiarize themselves
with the relevant rules. In addition to the Collegiate Cycling
rulebook, those include the racing rules of USA Cycling-Road.
In the coming days, I will email out summaries of what I consider
to be the most important rule changes that relate to Road
Nationals. For starters, you can find the 2008 Collegiate Cycling
rulebook at:
http://usacycling.org/forms/collegiate/collegiate_rulebook.pdf
And you can find the USA Cycling-Road rulebook at:
http://usacycling.org/forms/RdTrkCx_rulebook.pdf
Finally, attached is a summary of the principal changes to the
Collegiate Cycling rulebook made for 2008. Please be on the
lookout for my future emails, and distribute them to anyone and
everyone who you think should be familiar with the rules before
they arrive in Colorado in May.
Thanks!
Daniel Matheny
