Re: Satie Collection?  jb

i had what seems to be the most common double cd set, the one with

Satie: Piano Works
Erik Satie (Composer), Aldo Ciccolini (Performer)

and i must say that whilst a few piecess were great, others really
didn't do it for me. i thought large sections were too quiet and the
dynamic range too great between pieces. i ended up just listening to
a few selections. that said, this "warmer" recording (by a former
student of Ciccolini's) seems to be what the above is missing,
despite its silly name:

The Magic of Satie
Thibaudet (Artist), Satie (Artist)

also while looking i noticed several potentially interesting
electronic versions of Satie, if anyone has an opinion on these lemme

Riemann: Electronic Nightworks (Handel, Ravel, Satie, J. S. Bach, LP
Record KS-80.047)
by Innovative Communication

Pieces in a Modern Style
William Orbit

Anyone care to take a stab at recommending the best recordings of
Erik Satie's work? (Are there any decent collections or box sets?
I haven't turned up much.)
