Sweetie's new sound

While accelerating yesterday I noticed a high pitched whistle on Sweetie
which seemed like it was coming from under the dash. You could feel the
turbo pulling and the whistle getting louder if you accelerated harder when
the RPMs were above 3400. I tried it again today and it did the same thing,
after which, I sensed some gas fumes.
Has anyone else had this and what was the fix??
