Amelia Island Time Trial Sundays

Time Trials are rides in which you race against the clock. It is a
good way to measure fitness and progress. It’s also a great way to
sharpen bike skills. Amelia Island Time Trial Sundays are for fun &
training.

Dates: Last Sunday of each month

Time: Starting at 8:30 am (warm ups should be completed before 8:30)

Distance: 19 miles (about 30K)

Start & Finish: The bridge on the south end of Amelia Island

Course: South over the bridge, over both Talbot islands, across the
new Fort George Inlet bridge. The turn around point is just beyond the
bridge and is fast, safe, and easy. Head back north and finish at
Amelia Island. There are shoulders along the route so you can stay
safely out of traffic. The course is level. You should be able to
average at least 15 mph.

Parking: There is parking at the State Park at the south end of Amelia
Island. Parking costs $1 on the honor system. One mile north of the
bridge is a beach access with free parking.

Held the Last Sunday of the month at 8:30 am.
Remaining 2006 Dates:
•   June 25, 2006
•   July 30, 2006
•   August 27, 2006
•   September 30, 2006
•   October 29, 2006
•   November 26, 2006
•   December 31, 2006

Course records:
Men: Jim Wright 26.27 mph
Women: Stephanie Stetter 21. 97 mph

Don't let these speeds intimidate you. The only person that you're
competing with is yourself. Come back next month and beat your time.

When the time trial ends it will only be about 10 am. From the south
end of Amelia Island to Fort Clinch and back, will add about another 30
miles to your Sunday ride. Or you can spend the day at the beach.
