Social Ride in Palatka - SUNDAY, 2/25  biknj-@aol.com
 Feb 20, 2007 07:43 PST
This is an early heads-up for all Social Riders. I want you to have time to plan ahead for this great away ride in Putnam County. Barbara Bates is an NFBC member who lives in Palatka a few blocks from Ravine State Gardens. Barbara is a true C/S rider. She will not leave anyone behind. She knows her way around down there, and will be there no matter what the weather looks like. It looks like it's shaping up to be a nice weekend ...so think Spring and go visit the flowers in Ravine State Gardens. If the ride is too slow for you ...she does have good maps which will be provided at the ride start. Last year there were more riders from the Gainesville Cycling Club than from NFBC. Let's not let this happen again.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 10:00 AM, C/S - Cracker Swamp Ride from Ravine State Gardens in Palatka. 27 miles on smooth, quiet, back roads east of Palatka. Take US 17 into Palatka. Turn right on Mosley Av., go 3/4 of a mile and turn left on Twigg St. Watch for small brown signs pointing to Ravine State Gardens. Riders will meet in front of the park, in the parking lot on Twigg St. Bring $1.00 to enter the park on your bicycle at the end of the ride. You must ride the 2 mile loop around the park. After all... that's why we are here... to smell the Azaleas. Wouldn't hurt to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy in the park. Some of the group may decide to go eat somewhere after visiting the park.
SOCIAL RIDE CAPTAIN: Barbara Bates.

An idea! Maybe you know someone who would like to do the longer ride ...but not quite 75 or 100 miles. They could meet you in Palatka and you could give them a ride back to Green Cove Springs or Orange Park. Last year I was one of those people. There was a terrific WIND out of the NORTH that day. It was a great one-way ride. :D
