RE:Further Update on Mary and Kelly
Oct 22, 2006 17:52 PDT
Although Mary did get bruised and battered, injuring her hip and sustaining
a broken nose, her demeanor is quite positive and she's looking forward to
resuming her training in a number of weeks. Even last night at the hospital
she was hopeful of a full recovery. Speaking with her this evening, she
seemed a bit tired, but anxious to return home. Today she did negotiate
some steps with crutches and because it somewhat exhausted her, she was
advised to stay one more night before scheduling her discharge for tomorrow
Let's all be thankful that Kelly and Mary weren't hurt worse.

Subject: Update on Mary and Kelly

As many of you may know by now, there was an unfortunate incident on the Oct
There was a bad crash involving 2 riders on a tandem: Mary Crawley and Kelly
Here is what we know so far:
They were on a high speed descent when a flat tire on the front wheel caused
them to lose control and crash hard. The cause of the flat is unknown but
may have been caused by either debris on the road or from hitting a bump
further up the descent.
The Franklin Township Emergency Squad responded to the incident.
Mary was airlifted to the Morristown trauma center and Kelly was taken to
Warren Hospital. Kelly was treated for abrasions and released. I visited
Mary while she was still in the hospital. She has numerous injuries
including several cuts and bruises and a non-displacement fracture of the
hip. She is expected to be released today (Sunday 10/22) and hopefully,
will make a full recovery.
Please keep Mary and Kelly, along with their families, in your thoughts and
hope for a speedy recovery.
