paul k yes, i have a selle an-atomica saddle. it's basically a
brooks b-17 with a large cut out area. i don't much notice a difference
in the ride from the b-17. it took about 1000 miles to break in my
b-17. it took quite a bit less for the selle. i've gotten both soaking
wet after being caught it drenching rains. both saddles stretched and
then hardened and shrank a little as they dried. i had to retension
both saddles. i think, the b-17, because it's just one solid piece of
leather as opposed to the selle with it's huge cut out, was easier to
retension than the selle. i now try to carry a plastic bag whenever it
looks like rain. i have two bikes and i mainly ride the one with the
b-17. the bike with the selle an-atomica gets about 1000 miles per
year. are these saddles perfect? no. but i'm much more comfortable
on them than on any of the newer saddles i've tried over the last 15 or
so years. i agree with tom r's comments that saddles are extremely
personal and each rider has to find his own comfort.
