NYU Chess Club - NYU vs. Baruch College  NYU Chess Club
 Apr 17, 2005 12:31 PDT

Baruch College has challenged us to a match of chess, and we have
accepted the challenge. The match should occur this weekend on a
Saturday or Sunday evening (4/23 or 4/24) or the following weekend (4/30
or 5/1). The complete details will be announced soon.

Site: New York University (Campus Location: TBA)
Date and Time: TBA
Time Control: TBA
Non-rated match. Ratings will be used to set the lineup.

Current Roster (roster is still open)
Board 1: Rexford Cristal (1675)
Board 2: Alan Walk (1624)
Board 3: Bradford Crouch (1555)
Board 4: David Valdman (1184)
Board 5: Ashish Rastogi (Unr.)
Board 6: Dan Lichtenberg (Unr.)
Board n: open

Preview:
Valdman will be returning to do what he always does well - crush the
competition. Crouch (yes, Brad Crouch!) will bring his extremely
underrated skills back to the board for a final showdown. This match
will also bring together some of the original members of the chess club
from 2001 (Cristal, Crouch, and Valdman) for one last chance at chess
glory before they're put out to pasture, so really, it can't get any
better than this. We'll be seeing some of the new as well in Rastogi
and Lictenberg.

Bobby Moy of Baruch College will probably send strong players in the
hope that they will bash us again. Hopefully, we won't let this happen.

Notes:
Rastogi and Lichtenberg supposedly have rankings listed online and in
periodicals, but they should verify this with the club. This will
change the order of the lineup if they do this.

Here are the results from our last match with Baruch College.

Hi Alan,

This is Bobby Moy, the president of the chess club in Baruch College. I
would like to know when you are interested in having a chess meet
against our chess team. The team can be 8 (tournament players) to 15+
(less tournament players) players. Email me back so we can figure out
when it will be possible to have a meet. We are free Saturday and
Sunday evenings. It would have to be on your campus since Baruch
charges us to use the facilities.

I'm looking forward to this match and beating you in chess.

Thanks,
Bob

General Meeting:
The ninth general meeting of the semester will be held on Thursday night
(4/21) from 5:30pm-7:30pm. We really MUST decide on officers for Fall
2005 by this time. Food and drink will be served.
