There are Okinawans in Brazil more than Brazilians in Okinawa due to their
having a long history of work-related journeys.
Even in our Okinawan Association of America in Los Angeles, we have had
"Okinawan-Brazilians" visit us...along with an
abundance of Okinawans who have come from Peru, Bolivia and even Chile.
At the "Uchinanchu Taikai" (Okinawan Festival) in 2001, the languages spoken
in the Convention Center in Ginowan
