....were Japanese, Okinawan, English, Spanish and Portugese.
The "Okinawan-Brazilians" whom I have met have represented an interesting
mix of culture and language. Historically, their lives were difficult in
the first decades but, especially in Sao Paolo (the largest "Japanese"
community.outsdie of Japan, with an high percentage of Okinawan descendants, they
have fused a modern life style but still with many Japanese and Okinawan
traditions, according to persons from Brazil who were visiting our O.A.A. last
year. Their standard of living is, we were told, is very good.
Sorry about the interruption.. We just had a little "blackout" in our
Southern California power companies and it knocked out my computer in a flash!
(In the Okinawan language, I discoover: "Mii ya tin niru aru"..."Our fates are
registered
by Heaven"....and I can add, "Also by the Edison Company in Southern
California"!
Bom sorte!
