I think Peter raises some good points and as a newbie to the group I
would like to express my gratitude for all of the members of PCC - board
of directors and otherwise - for their time, patience and shared love of
the sport. Peter - I agree that mtb requires a different skill set than
road but after my last two months of experience on a road bike I can say
without reservation that there ARE techniques that are special and
unique to road rides and competition. My vote is for equal time and
energy spent on organizing clinics for road bike technique as well as
mtb. That is my two cents.
oh, if there are empty spots on the ballot, I think Peter ought to put
his name out there. ;-)

| | Hello PCC;
I am new to Prescott and have met a few of you.
Previously is was active with the Arizona Outdoor Travel Club in
Phoenix.
They have a section for biking.
Focusing specifically on Mtn Biking. Our philosophy was that you needed
to
keep recruiting new folks into the group to replenish those that leave.
Since Mtn biking requires special skills and training, we did that by
conducting workshops twice a year for new riders.
Also, all rides were graded by beginner, intermediate and advanced. I
considered myself to be upper intermediate for Phoenix Mtn trails.
However,
most of the rides I have joined here in Prescott have been very
difficult
for me to keep pace. I would like to see PCC organize beginner and
intermediate level rides and advertise them to recruit new members.
Peavine
is not a Mtn Bike ride and while it is a good place for new riders to
start,
I would not consider it a beginning ride. I know the advanced riders
don't
like waiting for beginners, but for the sake of growing the club they
need
to slow down.
Finally, we all need to get together. There are PCC rides, and then two
of
the bike stores organizing their own rides.
Just my 3 cents.
Pete

Subject: Prescott Cycling Club Is Looking For You!
Do you like to ride your bike?
Do you like to socialize with other cyclists?
Would you like to see more cycling related activities in the tri-city
area?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, Prescott Cycling Club is
looking for you!
The club wants you to have all this along with others who are seeking
cycling fun in a club that wants to serve the needs of the cycling
community.
Prescott Cycling Club has a board of directors. The club is incorporated
and
has by-laws. This PCC board gets to work with the club members to plan
and
post cycling club activities including:
Mountain Bike Rides
Road Rides
Race training
Out of town trips
Multiple day trips like Utah, Colorado, California, etc.
Camping trips
Picnics
Trail design, building and maintenance
Social events, parties
Skull Valley Loop Challenge Road Ride
We want you to think about what you would like the club to offer. Talk
to
your friends about it. Contact current board members with your ideas or
if
you have questions to ask them about this. Ask to be on the ballot for
the
upcoming election. You can be on the board and see your vision of the
club
become reality.
Just send your name and e-mail address to me or any other current board
member. You can find the board members' e-mail addresses in the sent to
list
on this e-mail.
The new board will take over in January 2010.
Think about this! You could do it and you could do it with your friends
and
make this the club you have always wanted to be a part of.
