FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK:
I am sitting on a beach looking at the ocean. A plane takes off. It is
in silhouette without discernable identification. From the moment the
plane ascends, it looks shaky.
Others notice and wade into the water. They are already thinking about
saving the plane.
White clouds envelop the plane, it emerges the fluffy cover, and then,
it plunges, nose down, into the water.
I call 911 from my cell phone. The operator asks where the plane is so
she can send help. I want to tell her exactly where the plane went down.
I tell her which exit although I feel this is a ridiculous gesture.
The operator says, "I feel badly for the pilot." What a strange
Statement,” I think. What about the passengers?
The plane rises from the water like a whale and then plunges back into
the ocean. I am certain the plane is the U.S. Ship of State and G.W.
Bush is the pilot. I recall how he likes to wear a bomber jacket when in
his Commander-in-Chief-talking-to-the-troops mode.
The operator’s statement contrasts with what Bush said he thought when
he saw the first plane crashing into the World Trade Center, “Now that
is one terrible pilot.” A student at a San Francisco State University
teach-in said after watching a replay of his statement that he seemed
without compassion. Where was
his concern for the people on the plane or in the building, she
wondered.
I dreamt this scenario during a nap Saturday, February 22, a week after
the San Francisco Peace Rally. I had just suggested to one of the
students in Dream Journaling, the online class I teach, that Shabbat
dreams are especially potent and important. A friend believes they
reflect and illuminate the Torah portion of the week.
That week’s portion was about folks dancing around a golden
calf while their leader Moses received the Ten Commandments. The portion
was about idolatry.
Like the worshippers who fashioned the golden calf and danced before
their idol, the elite rulers of the U.S. Empire epitomize greed,
destroying the earth and its inhabitants for a few barrels of oil. Bush
is their titular head and they show no intention of turning from their
glutinous ways.
When I told the dream to my friend Doreen, she interrupted as I
described the 911 operator’s response. That is exactly the teaching of
Thich Nhat Hanh, the Buddhist teacher, my friend said. He speaks of
compassion, of extending compassion.
An activist, who teaches compassionate communication courses, told me
impeaching Bush for the crimes of 9-11 must be ”healing.” I later
repeated this to someone who responded, “The truth is
healing.”
The 911 (9-11) operator, Thich Nhat Hanh, the communications specialist.
In the past month, the compassionate message has reached my ears three
times.
I hear, I hear.
Wondering how to integrate this message into legal action against the
Bush gang for their role in 9-11, I literally found the answer on a
placard at the February San Francisco rally.
The sign (from the universe) read “Compassionate Impeachment.”
The effort to impeach Bush for his Iraq illegalities is called
“preemptive impeachment.” I hereby dub the legal action to hold Bush and
his regime responsible for the “crimes of 9-11” “Compassionate
Impeachment.”
I am looking for ways to manifest this thoughtful action.

MAKING SENSE IN A TIME OF CONTROLLED CHAOS

A psychologist interested in conflict resolution boarded the Golden Gate
transit bus in Sausalito and volunteered her theory that “they” -- an
element of the U.S. government -- were responsible for 9-11. “They” did
not plan on the towers crumbling and thought far fewer 3.000 people
would die in the 9-11 attacks.
“I immediately thought -- how convenient Bush was on camera when they
told him about the second plane,” a woman who had traveled from the
eastern Sierras explained crossing the Golden Gate Bridge to the January
18 San Francisco Peace rally.
The press traveling with G.W. Bush filmed and photographed him as he
read children’s stories with a second grade class at Booker Elementary
School in Sarasota, Florida, on the morning of 9-11. Video tapes of the
well-publicized event surfaced after 9-11. Magazines published pictures
of Bush’s Chief of Staff whispering in his ear moments after the second
plane. Bush has said he knew the first plane hit before he went into the
classroom.
She chalks up Bush and his cronies’ political antics to greed. “This is
the last gasp of Empire, however. They are going to fall like Rome.”
She is one of dozens of people who reacted to a flyer and to an article
about impeaching Bush for the “crimes of 9-11” in POLITICAL DIARY #10
and widely circulated on the internet.
The flyer, Grounds for Impeachment: Bush Foreknowledge/Cover-up of 9-11,
and the article, “BEATING THE DRUMS FOR JUSTICE: First Calls for Bush’s
Impeachment for 9-11” have opened a floodgate of ideas, insights and
vehement agreement for such action. By way of interviews, emails, and
phone calls, respondents express
a determination to see truth and justice prevail. They are realists
angry about the way the U.S. government does business.
Here are some responses:
If the main focus of your 9-11 investigation remains fixated on the
"Terrorist Trail" leading up to the event then the truth will remain
hidden in plain view.
If you would shift the focal point to the actual events of "The Day of
9-11," then the cover story will crumble in a manner that will shake the
whole world with a shock wave greater than the collapse of the World
Trade Towers.
I believe the reason little attention is paid to the events that day is
because most people assume they already know what happened. They must.
They saw it so many times, they are tired of seeing it.
Ask anyone if they saw on TV a passenger jet hit the Pentagon. Most will
say “yes.” They are wrong; however, they will continue to believe what
they think they witnessed. They will forever formulate their blind
opinions on an illusion fabricated by the puppeteers of this world who
hide behind the curtain of disbelief.

I am retired Air Force and as a former Communications Operations
Supervisor, I can tell you that what happened on 9-11 does leave a lot
of questions to be answered. At your convenience, I would like to
forward to you an article that appeared in Aviation Week some months
ago. The content of the article had to do with the actions at NORAD
Headquarters on the morning of September 11.
I found the article simply unbelievable and spun way out of proportion.
For example, the article mentioned that operations personnel actually
heard the background voices of Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld
over their telephone lines. First of all, I find that hard to believe
since all DOD telephone communications use "secure" voice lines.
However, if that were the case, then it is possible that Bush could have
issued STAND DOWN orders, which would have accounted for the
interceptors taking off "too late" to intercept the hijacked airplanes.

all making sense, in this time of controlled chaos.

I hope somebody does introduce articles of impeachment against Bush.
His arrogance and impudence are beyond tolerance.
If (Bill) Clinton could be impeached for his personal transgressions,
then Bush clearly deserves to be impeached--and removed--for his public
ones. A sad state of affairs. Feels like America is a ship with a giant
hole in the hull.

I have just read your article, Beating the Drums for Justice . . . So
many of my questions are now finally answered. I was so thankful to
receive information relating to your web site as regards further
direction. All I know is of the horrendous danger Bush poses to our
country and the rest of the world.

Feel free to use my response to PD #10 in a manner that will encourage
others to start "questioning authority." Hopefully, they will keep
asking until they hear the answers that are different from those
preschools and churches settle for such as...."Just because,” "It's
God's will," and "Some things are beyond our
comprehension." These are insufficient when there is so much at stake.
Your statement "We each have an Inner Source that can lead us to the
truth behind the news" (a PD tagline) is so true. However, it takes a
degree of "self confidence" to tap into that ever present
source and "self" confidence is what our institutions -- with the
mainstream Christian Churches among the worst -- has severely
suppressed.
I agree with you that the "foreknowledge" and "shadow government" are
not bifurcated issues. They are one and the same. The "shadow
government" is comprised of those individuals who had the
"foreknowledge" of what was to occur on 9-11.
(PD offered in an earlier email to this writer what editor Joyce Lynn
maintains at teach-ins on 9-11 when participants say that Bush
administration foreknowledge of 9-11 negates an operative U.S. role in
9-11. PD has maintained an element of the U.S. “shadow government” --
military, intelligence, industrial --masterminded 9-11. For PD, the
foreknowledge issue is the most easily proved
and, therefore, an entree into the rest of the story.)
I do question your statement about the "difficulties of going with just
what happened that day.” You cannot separate the perpetrator(s) from the
crime. Most criminal investigations start at the "scene of the crime"
and work backwards. "Motive" follows and comes into play as the event is
reconstructed and an "MO"
is formulated.

The next six comments were part of a thread on SmirkingChimp.com, which
reprinted Beating the Drums for Justice:
I'm all for impeaching Bush and not a moment too soon. I have been
following 9-11 since I watched the events on TV and this arrogant, lying
administration obviously has something to hide. I would bet others also
have something to hide, and it's these elitist, pompous, self-indulgent
representatives of the American people who need a BIG lesson in
humility. We are supposed to live in a democracy and in a democracy
there is no room for a dictator, no room for a totalitarian regime, and
no room for some ignorant rich frat boy to represent the citizens of
this country. . . .. Start at the top, impeach Bush, and don't stop
until all three branches of the government have experienced some
restoration of true democracy.

Make no mistake about this, Graham will be deadly serious about
uncovering answers for us. He is of untouchable character, he is
fiercely focused and he is ANGRY that our nation has been raked over the
coals by this administration. He has classified knowledge of 9-11 that
he vehemently insists our citizens should know NOW.
(PD #10 reported that Sen. Bob Graham (D-Fl), co-chair of the Joint
Intelligence Committee investigating 9-11, was considering a run for the
Democratic nomination for president in 2004 and that he is “furious at
Bush and the intelligence community” for withholding information from
the Committee. Graham was to announce his decision in late January.
However, several days after PD speculated on Graham’s candidacy, he
announced he was putting his decision on
hold because of health reasons.)
Yes, "beating the clock" has always been the operative phrase for these
robbers. We here in Florida WILL NEVER "get over it,”in many more ways
than one.
We MUST cut our losses now from this vile mockery of our Constitution,
this madness and divisiveness withering our executive branch and the
perpetuation of hatred of our citizens around the world.
This is certainly a uniting force among us that is suddenly mushrooming.
Impeachment is right. Impeachment is just. And, the PEOPLE will prevail
in the end.

Go to http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/schoolvideo.html and watch the
interaction between the president and his chief of staff and subject it
to your knowledge of human behavior. As the accompanying text says, it's
not what is in this video that is disturbing but what is not and should
be. The question I want answered more than any other one: If the
president did not KNOW he was safe, why
was that school not immediately evacuated? His visit was well
publicized.
Criminals ALWAYS miss something when they are trying to cover their
tracks. In this case "looking natural" looks damn unnatural.

Joyce, you've hit it on the nose. But just how ticked off are McKinney,
Fertick, Graham, Clark, Ellsberg, not to mention Clinton and Gore?
During the 9-11 attack, there was a comment by a "talking head" on
television, who said, and I paraphrase, "The U.S. is going to have to
take a hard look at our foreign policy and what we do overseas to
understand why these things happen. Otherwise we can't stop this from
happening again."
He was quickly taken out back to the Bush tool shed and that was the
last I heard or saw of an American making a remark like that during the
days following 9-11. Why?
Common sense is regularly thwarted by the press. If we can get someone
(Bill Clinton, Al Gore along with the aforementioned wanna-be-heards –
hey, how about this guy from NC?), who the press can't ignore, to shed
some light on these FACTS might we all be enlightened? We should be able
to impeach the Resident more quickly than (Richard) Nixon. Nixon lied to
us and so did (Spiro) Agnew.
Cheney's energy papers probably reveal the current administration's ties
to the pipeline which U.S. and other companies are now building through
Afghanistan. The dots are easily connected from there. Back pedal and we
find that the Bush administration started dealing with the Taliban to
secure the routes through
Afghanistan as soon as they came into power.
There are many questions the media would have answered if dubya's last
name were
Clinton.

I was in Germany on 9/11/01. Once we heard the news, our meeting was
over. We all headed out to the hotel lobby, where someone had rolled out
a TV set. (German) Chancellor Schroeder spoke to the nation for about 5
minutes . . . It was an excellent speech, exactly what a leader should
say in a time of crisis.
Then the TV station cut to George W. Bush. All the Germans around me
spoke English well enough to understand what he was saying. The contrast
was horrifying.
Since then, Bush has gotten worse. Germany was solidly on our side --
how could he have so thoroughly alienated them? Everyone in the world
was ready to help -- how could he have blown it all so badly? His
mismanagement of America's place in the world is criminal. When he came
into office, we were the sole superpower.
Impeachment is too good for him. Throw the bastard out!

In response to a call from PD, Anne Fagan Ginger, professor of Peace Law
and Human Rights at San Francisco State University, left this message:
February 13: “I believe Bush is impeachable. There are grounds for
impeachment. But, this is not the moment to do this. We do not have a
single member of the House who would
bring charges (for Iraqi war). I will talk about the issues on which he
could be impeached. But, the campaign needed now is to keep us out of
war, and this is not the campaign now to do that.”
When PD talked with her about 9-11 as basis for impeachment, she
declined to “go there.”

At the February 17 San Francisco peace rally, Roxanne from Central
California carried a sign linking Bush with 9-11. The administration was
“in collusion—at the very least” in 9-11, she told PD.
“They say 9-11 came as a total shock. Not with all the warnings they had
in advance, especially about planes flying into the World Trade Center.”
She said, “Operations Northwoods sealed it for me because (G.H.W.) Bush
was around in the CIA during that time. So was Cheney.”
In 1962, the U.S. military wanted to justify military action against
Cuba. The Pentagon and CIA planned Operations Northwoods. In one
scenario, a Cuban aircraft would shoot down a chartered U.S. passenger
aircraft enroute from the U.S. to South America. The civilian leadership
eventually rejected the plan, and it was never carried out.
Roxanne continued, “There was no evidence connecting Osama bin Laden to
9-11. Then, they drop bin Laden and now they are going into Iraq,” she
exclaimed.
“The CIA has exploited tensions before although they went in through the
back door. They did it with the Contras. They tried to do it with
Vietnam. I just talked with someone who said the U.S. had troops in
Afghanistan in January (2001).
“Too much stuff is coming out.”
Roxanne pauses and concludes: “This is a stretch, but it is like Bush to
say we can’t have elections now because it would jeopardize our
democracy.”

Laura Bush cancelled the February White House poetry event she had
scheduled afraid it would turn into an anti-war forum. Poets and artists
are holding their own forums. PD, holding the 9-11 space, is reprinting
“It’s as Easy” by “yahoogy.” This poem appeared January 24 on
SmirkingChimp.com in response to PD’s article, “Beating the Drums for
Justice: First Calls for Bush’s Impeachment for 9-11.” Ownership of this
