FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK
Phase 2 of the International 9/11 Citizens’ Inquiry in Toronto reminded
me how prescient 9/11 remains in our minds and how skeptical people are
of the official story.
While in Toronto, I appeared on a staid business show much like CNN’s
Money Line. Mike Vaughn hosted the program and the other guests were
Barrie Zwicker, who organized the Toronto Inquiry and produced the Great
Deception, the first documentary on 9/11, and Don Paul, who questions
the financing of 9/11 and the strange fall of WTC Building 7.
Three of the four callers were well-versed in the shortcomings of the
U.S. government’s “official” version. One caller was amazed -- and
pleased -- that we had such a forum to tell another side of the story.
I also spent an hour on a University of Toronto radio program, which
Steve Reimer hosted. The other guests were Ellen Mariani, whose husband,
Neil, was on Flight 175 which crashed into Tower Two, and Paul Thompson,
editor of the 9/11 Timeline (www.cooperativeresearch.org).
During the program, I mentioned that dreams gave me inside tips about
the real 9/11 story. During the break, Mariani, who is suing the Bushes,
father and son, and top administration officials, told me an incredible
dream she had before 9/11 (see story, below).
Again, the callers possessed detailed knowledge about the “other” 9/11
story.
One caller said that as an African American she could believe the U.S.
government would kill its own citizens. She pointed to the Tuskegee
Experiment, formerly the Tuskegee Syphilis Study.
(According to a July 25, 2002 PBS feature, the U.S. Public Health
Service conducted the study to determine from autopsies what syphilis
did to the human body. The Public Health Service never told the
participants, nearly 400 poor black men with syphilis from Macon,
Georgia, that they had the disease or treated them for it.
Participants died from lack of treatment for the disease and its side
effects. The U.S. Public Health Service conducted the study starting in
1932 until 40 years later when public health workers leaked the story to
the media.AP reporter Jean Hiller wrote the original story breaking the
silence on July 25, 1972. )
Recently, I attended a researcher’s presentation analyzing the testimony
of FAA and NORAD officials before the 9/11 Commission. An audience
member questioned an air defense regulation the government imposed
shortly before 9/11. He said it was preposterous that the U.S.
government would establish that chain of command to defend America. He
said if the government had established the procedure, the Commission
would surely have asked about it.
Even though the questioner is knowledgeable about 9/11, he still assumed
that an “official” commission would actually conduct an honest
investigation.
I also was invited to talk about the 9/11 Commission and its conflicts
to a group of San Francisco artists and activists because one member
wondered why the commissioners failed to ask obvious questions during
the public hearings.
Recently, journalist Larry Chin contacted me to point out I had omitted
an important arena (drug connections) from my Commission presentations
in San Francisco and Toronto. Chin, who subsequently wrote about that
subject (Online Journal, July, 2004), urged we spread the word about the
commission before its report was “cast in concrete.”
Another activist called to say we must refute the report point by point.
A daunting task and perhaps a worthless exercise since the entire
premise of the Commission investigation is flawed.
Nonetheless, beginning in this issue, I want to address several bogus
issues (i.e., cover-ups) in the Commission’s 567-page report.
A powerful way to dispute the Commission report is to point out the
corrupting conflicts and connections of the 9/11 commissioners and
staff. As I reported in PD #15, G.W. Bush and Congressional leaders
stacked the deck with government insiders who have ties to the very
institutions and individuals they were mandated to investigate.
The commissioners are high-powered players with much to lose if they
pursue the truth and much to gain -- jobs, money, benefits for their
benefactors -- if they don’t. Their recommendations would further
solidify a police/military state in the U.S. and abroad and justify an
endless war on “terror.”
Congressional Democrats are trying to outfox the Republicans on homeland
security by urging passage of the Commission’s recommendations.
DO NOT accept the Commission’s word. Read the report and do your own
investigation. Then, spread the word about the Commission’s conflicts
and the report’s cover-ups.
Use THE 9/11 COVER-UP COMMISSION: Corrupting Conflicts and Connections,
which I wrote for house parties and community events. A video or
documentary about 9/11 could round out the program.
Pass the word before the commission report is further “cast in concrete”
and the public actually thinks it represents an independent
investigation of 9/11.

ELLEN MARIANI’S DREAM
“I was in an auditorium and people are applauding me.”
Ellen Mariani, whose husband Neil died on Flight #175, which crashed
into Tower Two of the World Trade Center, had this reoccurring dream
during the two months before 9/11.
She told Neil about the dream, wondering aloud why she would find
herself in such a situation since she sold health products.
Little did she know at the time the significance of her precognitive
dream.
Last year, Mariani filed a landmark case against G.W. Bush, his father,
and top administration officials charging the Bush family with decades
of manipulation of U.S. policy for their own power and profit
(911forthetruth.com).
She is among the small percent of 9/11 families who refused $1.3 million
from the families’ compensation fund. She calls the fund “hush money” to
prevent the families’ from suing over their losses.
She and her lawyer, Phil Berg, tour the U.S. and abroad talking about
the case, garnering 700-plus crowds. Mariani told me she first recalled
the dream when she was receiving a standing ovation from a large
audience in a church in Kansas City.
She said she remembers the dream when she is telling her story in a
religious setting.
I sensed when I met Mariani at the International Inquiry in San
Francisco last March that she had a soul connection with her husband,
Neil. Her dream confirms that -- and far more.
In her daring suit, Mariani calls Bush, his father, George H. W. Bush,
and top administration officials “aiders and abettors and conspirators”
who “intentionally and deliberately failed to prevent the 9/11 attacks.”

Mariani alleges the defendants “let the attacks happen for one chilling
reason: to profit personally and politically from the so-called
‘International War on Terror.’”
Mariani said, “The reasons why 9/11 occurred are no longer a national
security risk, but a national security disgrace and tragedy.”
In a personal letter to Bush released with the filing, Mariani wrote,
“On the morning of the attack, you and members of your staff were fully
aware of the unfolding events, yet you chose to continue on to the Emma
E. Booker Elementary School to proceed with a scheduled event and photo
op.”

DEBUNKING THE 9/11 COMMISSION ‘OFFICIAL’ REPORT: Cover-up #1
“Our aim has not been to assign individual blame. Our aim has been to
provide the fullest possible account of the events surrounding 9/11 and
to identify lessons learned.
“We learned about an enemy who is sophisticated, patient, disciplined,
and lethal. The enemy rallies broad support in the Arab and Muslim world
by demanding redress of political grievances, but its hostility toward
us and our values is limitless. Its purpose is to rid the world of
religious and political pluralism, the plebiscite, and equal rights for
women. It makes no distinction between military and civilian targets.
Collateral damage is not in its lexicon.”
-- THE 9/11 COMMISSION REPORT: Final Report of the National
Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States
The 9/11 Commission Report is a hoax.
The 10 high profile commissioners apparently wrote these two paragraphs
contained in the Preface -- and the rest of the nearly 600-page report
released July 22 --with a straight face and little consideration for
irony or truth.
The report is mostly a compilation of staff reports disregarding public
testimony that counters its narrative and omitting the whereabouts and
activities of top Bush administration officials and military brass that
morning.
Then, of course, there is the overall problem with the report:
A truly independent investigation would examine WHO carried out the
attacks. That means probing all those capable of carrying out the
attacks, including elements of the U.S. government.
Cleverly, however, the politicians have turned the Commission into a
tool to perpetuate their agenda of global power.
The Commission’s report renders rationales to expand the security state
at home and abroad, promulgate huge outlays of spending for the “war on
terrorism,” and increase domestic security.
The largess will fill the coffers of the very individuals and
corporations with complicity in 9/11 enabling their belligerent schemes
to continue.
Here is a key issue the report ignores and misrepresents and PD
recommendations to secure a more secure world.
Cover-up 1: Bush in the Classroom
“Don’t say anything yet.”
On September 11, while two planes crashed into the World Trade Center,
while people were burning up and jumping out of buildings, G. W. Bush,
commander-in-chief, sat in a second grade classroom in Sarasota,
Florida, reading a story about a pet goat.
In his closed door meeting with the Commission April 29, Bush with Dick
Cheney at his side, told the commissioners he lingered in the classroom
because he wanted to project “a calm, in control demeanor.”
According to the report, Bush told the commission his “instinct was to
project calm, not to have the country see an excited reaction at a
moment of crisis. ....(Bush) felt he should project strength and calm
until he could better understand what was happening.”
Commission co-chairman Lee Hamilton liked Bush’s spin so much that
during a press conference after the final round of hearings June 17,
Hamilton lauded Bush’s (in)action.
POLITICAL DIARY (PD #15) dubbed Hamilton “Mr. Cover-up” because of his
propensity for letting the chief executive and vice-president off the
hook in major scandals he is charged with investigating including Iran
Contra and the 1980 October Surprise.
Apparently, in their chat with the commissioners, Bush and Cheney
neglected to mention that in the back of that Florida classroom Bush’s
press secretary Ari Fleischer held up a pad of paper for him to see with
“Don’t say anything yet” written in big block letters. (Washington
Times, 10/7/02 as posted on “An Interesting Day,” Allan Wood, Paul
Thompson, May 9, 2003, www.cooperativeresearch.org)
According to Thompson’s Timeline, Fleischer held up the sign AFTER 9:05
a.m. when Bush’s Chief of Staff Andrew Card told him a second plane had
hit the World Trade Center.
It is doubtful, however, that even the information about the sign would
have phased Hamilton.
What benefit did Bush gain by waiting until 9:30 a.m.-- an hour and 15
minutes after the first tower was hit? Minutes after the second tower
was hit, CNN blamed Osama bin Laden for the attacks and the “official”
story was cast -- before Bush or any administration official had made a
public statement.
What difference does it make that Bush sat in the classroom reading
about a pet goat?
Probably hundreds of lives.
At the same time Bush was chatting with the children, the Port Authority
told office workers in Tower 2, there was no need to evacuate.
At the same time Bush chatted with the second graders, 911 operators
told frantic callers, “Stay in the tower. Building 2 is secure.”
Compare Bush’s activities in the midst of the attack with those of Air
Force Major Donald Arias, who also was in Florida that morning.
While Bush faced a bank of cameras in the back of the classroom for a
photo opportunity, Arias, a public affairs officer for NORAD, was in his
office at Tyndell Air Force Base, Panama City.
He knew from CNN that a plane had slammed into Tower 1. According to a
Newsday October 30, 2001, account, Arias had learned that another
hijacked airplane could be on the way.
He called his brother, Adam, a 37-year-old vice president of a brokerage
firm on the 84th floor of Tower 2.
Maj. General Craig McKinley, commander of the 1st Air Force and the
Continental U.S. NORAD region, told the 9/11 commission on May 23, 2003
that Arias was talking to his brother at 8:59 a.m.
Bush knew that a plane had hit the World Trade Center yet he entered the
classroom at 8:55 and was nodding and smiling for the cameras while
Arias was warning his brother.
Even though it was the first time in decades a plane had hit a New York
skyscraper, even though Bush had heard intelligence all summer about
heightened terrorists attacks, even though he had received a memo only a
month before about terrorist attacks in the U.S., Bush went on with the
photo opportunity.
On the other hand, alerted by his brother, Adam Arias warned others and
helped co-workers safely leave the World Trade Center.
Adam Arias’ body was found in the rubble of the Trade Center, apparently
killed when the Tower collapsed. Adam’s wife, Margit, was battling
cancer. They had celebrated their third anniversary a few days before.
In Fahrenheit 9/11, Michael Moore presents an extended stream of
consciousness romp about what Bush might be thinking in the interminable
seven minutes he sat in the classroom after notified of the second hit.
Bill Maher speculated on Larry King Live in August that Bush froze. Is
that whose finger you want on the nuclear button, Maher posited.
However, Bush’s action -- or lack of -- that day had dire consequences
that day.
In a film segment that videographer Ken Jenkins and I produced, which is
included in THE 9/11 COVER-UP COMMISSION: Corrupting Conflicts and
Connections, on the left of a split screen, Bush’s 20 minutes of
negligence/alibi; on the right side in real time, Tower One with a giant
smoking hole, then a plane hitting the second tower, and people jumping
out of the buildings.
With a television and telephone, Don and Adam Arias acted on the morning
of 9/11 and probably saved a dozen lives.
Anytime between 8:13 a.m. when an American Airlines stewardess reported
a hijacking on board Flight #11 and an hour and 15 minutes later, at
9:30 a.m., when he finally appeared on television to make a short
statement, Bush with the most sophisticated communications equipment in
the world at his call could have acted like his title,
commander-in-chief, and saved many hundreds of lives.
What did Bush gain by dallying most of the 9/11 attacks? A few minutes
after the attack on the second tower, CNN proclaimed Osama bin Laden the
perpetrator of the attacks. The “official” story and the designated
assassin was set -- before Bush even made a public statement.
PD RECOMMENDS:
Charge Bush with negligence for sitting in the classroom while Americans
he vowed to protect died horrific deaths; charge Bush for lying to the
Commission about why he stayed in the classroom;
Investigate Bush for treason for letting 9/11 happen that morning.
Investigate alleged Accomplices: Dick Cheney, who apparently went along
with the “calm demeanor” tale in front of the 9/11 commission; Ari
Fleischer, who held up the sign and continued the demeanor tale in
subsequent press interviews; Hamilton and the other Commissioners for
covering up Bush’s role (or lack thereof) the morning of 9/11; the
Secret Service, who let Bush continue with the public forum, endangering
the teachers and students; CNN which initiated the original “not
frighten the children” cover story and tagged Osama bin Laden the
mastermind of the attacks while Bush sat in the classroom.

INTERNATIONAL CITIZENS’ INQUIRY INTO 9/11, PHASE 3
New York City August 27 - September 16, 2004
Phase 3 of the International Citizens’ Inquiry into 9/11, dubbed the
Summer of Truth, will feature political, activist, cultural, and social
events in New York City coordinated with the Republican National
Convention and the third anniversary of 9/11. Goals of the Inquiry and
related events include:
- Exposing the 9/11 Cover up and the Omissions of the Commission Report
- Ending the exploitation of 9/11 to promote war, repression and fiscal
