||People Organized to Stop Rape of Imprisoned Persons (POSRIP)
||POSRIP was formed as a grass-roots organization in August of 1980. The founder, Russell D. smith, was suffering from severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Rape Trauma Disorder (RTD), and bi-polar disorder. He disappeared for about 20 years. Tom Cahill revived POSRIP in 1982. Later Stephen Donaldson took the resources of POSRIP and formed Stop Prisoner Rape, Inc. (SPR), which is now a news resource organization active in the political arena of prison reform. In 2003, Russell D. Smith resurfaced and asked SPR to return to POSRIP's original purposes. When SPR refused, Smith contacted SPR's retired president, Don Collins. Together they have reformed and revived POSRIP with its original intent of working to provide resources for prisoners who are raped.
