RE: Output power  Nicolas Chrétien

It was bought last year directly on the R-DAS website along with the
R-DAS tiny.

http://www.aedelectronics.nl/rdas/telemetry.htm

It's the 900 MHz 8-channel telemetry system. We use the R-DAS tiny.
It does not look like the images shown on the page, but those have the
inscription v1.4 (C) 2001 on them: our is written 2007 AED R-DAS xmit
V2.1. I guess the layout of the board changed a little between 2001 and
2007.

I recognize the components, but not the board. Do you have the link to
the
web site you purchased this from?

Hi!

Here's a picture of what a previously called the TX kit, which is the
Telemetry expansion.

http://www.prevertplus.com/RDASAMP.JPG

As I said, the output of the 8th pin of the BBA amplifier BBA-519-A (RF
Output) is the same than the RF input on the 4th pin of the amp, which
leads me to the conclusion that the amplifier is either dead...or not
activated, if that's possible. I don't have the documentation of the
telemetry expansion.

Thanks for you replies!

Hi Arnold,

In this case "kit" probably refers to the whole assembly, all of the
parts
that make the system, not a bag of electronic components.

RDAS tx kit? Would you give the link?

Ok, so after further investigations, I found that the output at the 8th
pin of the BBA amplifier BBA-519-A (RF Output) is the same than the RF
input on the 4th pin of the amp... does that mean that the amp is dead?
I checked the GND pins, the VCC (steady at 4.93V) and everythings seems
find: i just don't get any amplification whatsoever...

Does the amp needs to be activated or triggered in some way??

Any help would be greatly appreciated...! If somebody has the Tx kit and
could check what he or she gets out of the amp...

Hi!

We bought the RDAS kit for our experimental rocket here at Université
Laval. We are now designing a new type of antenna for our system, and
transmitted power seems to be an issue.
We bought the kit 2007 AED R-DAS xmit V2.1 #01447. On the R-DAS web
site, we saw that the Linx amplifier BBA-519-A should give us up to
50mW

of transmitted output power. However, on a spectrum analyzer, we only
measure up to -22 dBm channel power between 910-930 MHz (we're using
channel 7) which is about 6microWatt...in our tests, all the impedances
were adapted.

We just saw on the module 3 pins that aren't connected or jumped. Are
those should "jumpered" to operate the amp ? Here's a pic of our
system.

If you have the connection diagram or a datasheet of how the module
should be operated, it would be great: the system we have was bought a
couple of years ago, and the original team members are not here
anymore,

and that's why we have such nOOb questions :)

Thanks!!
