RDAS Classic Voltage Requirement

I have an RDAS Compact and want to use some Li-Po battery packs. I've been using an 11.1 volt pack and putting in some series diodes to drop the voltage within the recomended 9 - 10.6 volt range.
I'd love to use just a 7.4 volt, or 11.1 volt battery pack directly. The RDAS Classic has a ratting of 9 - 15 volts. What is the limit of the Compact. Is it just the firing capacitor? That could easily be replaced.
