You sound as though you know what you're talking about! I've ordered the butterfly bar and was thinking about mounting the lights on it. I agree that I'd be better to run them from the battery. My problem now is that I'm out of the UK for a month and I can't find a source for the lights. I've looked everywhere on the internet. Any ideas?

    I think the key here is to get crashguards that are not too heavy yet strong - hollow pipe??

    As far as the lights go, you might have to use DC lights wired directly from the battery
    with a relay in between cos i'm not sure if the AC headlight circuit can really power two more lights
    maybe 30w bulbs for each light?? im guessing thats the safe limit...
    even this will be a drain on the battery if you do too much night riding
