Re: How many Canadian MKIIs??  Chris & Elaine Overton

MessageHi Emile,
Long time.
Snow and rain start here Tuesday so I am scrambling to get my outdoor projects done.
Thanks for the numbers. Is your engine number 1B 1401? and your gearbox number should be BG followed by 2 or 3 numerals. It will be stamped on the gearbox case, near the joint with the covers. And should be repeated exactly on the front of the R crankcase half.
I have 4 Interceptors now, one from ''70, '69, '68, and '67. I am looking at several 1965's to buy. None are running. Most are wrecks that need total rebuilds before they run; even my runner has not been on the road for 2 seasons now. I bought a 1966 Continental GT that was supposed to be an easy fix-up but took me all summer to debug. Lotsa fun tho, and I managed to put 2000 miles on it.
Write anytime. And you can ask questions too on RE_Inte-@yahoogroups.com. I think you join by going thru www.ozemate.com/interceptor.

Hey Chris, how are things in BC? Winter's here in Ft McMurray. Just waiting for the first big dump of snow. I've been busy with the Interceptor and my other bikes, but now that the riding season is over have a bit of time to go over my old emails. I have the serial number of mine for you, it's off the headstock, it's F1401. So you can add that to your database. I might shoot you an email every once in awhile if I run up on a question I can't figure out, if it's OK with you. Are both of your Interceptors on the road?
         Cheers, Emile.

    Emile,
The REOC has most of the shipping records up to 1B 2121. There were another 79 SII's built after that at Westwood. Subsequently a few were built up from spares. So, over 1200 SII's were built, plus the engines for Clymer's Indian Enfield, most of which ended up in Rickman frames. I do not know where they were shipped to.. I have recorded serial numbers of 82 surviving SII's worldwide (2 of them mine). There must be many more. More info has just been posted to the RE_Inte-@yahoogroups.com forum in response to another query.

I have an ongoing quest to tally as many Interceptors by serial numbers as I can, in an attempt to guess at how many survive. All contributions of numbers gratefully received.

Does anyone know how many MKII Interceptors were brought into Canada around 1969/70? I'm looking at picking up a '69 or '70 model and am curious how many of them were imported. I'm also curious, but less so, about how many were brought into the US market at the time.
      Emile.
