1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1/4 cup cold unsalted butter
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1/4 cup milk
1 large egg
1 lb. fresh strawberries
1 tbsp. sugar
Preheat oven to 450°. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, & salt in
bowl of electric mixer. Mix briefly to blend. Cut butter into ¼-inch
pieces & add to flour mixture. Mix until butter is marble-size, but
don’t overmix. Mix in ¼ cup chocolate chips. In separate bowl beat
together egg & milk. Add to flour mixture. Mix until dough sticks
together.
Remove from bowl & knead into a ball on a floured surfaced with
flour-coated hands. Divide into 4 pieces. Pat each piece into a 3-inch
disk & place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place in oven. Bake for
10-12 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
Rinse, stem, & slice strawberries. Place in medium bowl. Stir 1
tablespoon sugar & allow to macerate for at least 30 minutes.
To make Chocolate Whipped Cream:
Combine ¾ cup whipping cream, 1 tablespoon Dutched cocoa powder, & 4
teaspoons sugar in chilled mixing bowl. With whisk attachment, whip
until soft peaks form.
Split each shortcake in half & arrange on plate. Divide strawberries
among the shortcakes. Top each with Chocolate Whipped Cream. Serves 4.

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup honey
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1-3/4 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 tsps. baking powder
1 tsp. salt (necessary)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 cup sour cream
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or peanuts
2 oz. white chocolate
2 tsps. milk
Preheat oven to temperature 325°F. Lightly butter a 12-cup fluted tube
pan or bundt cake pan. Combine butter with honey in a large bowl & beat
with an electric mixer until light & fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time,
mixing thoroughly after each addition. Mix in vanilla. Sift flour & next
4 ingredients together in another bowl. Add half the dry ingredients
alternately with half the sour cream to honey butter mixture. Repeat
with remaining flour mixture & sour cream. Gently fold in chocolate
chips & nuts. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 50-55 minutes or until
a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in center. Meanwhile, melt
white chocolate in the top of a double boiler over medium heat. Stir in
milk. Cool cake in pan on a wire rack 10 minutes. Remove cake from pan &
cool completely on wire rack. Serve drizzled with white chocolate glaze.
