Features:

1) How to Play in the Wind

Question: Do you have any tips for playing tennis in windy conditions? (This
is especially relevant to the high school players who are playing outside
now in usually very windy conditions.)

Good question. To play in the wind is tricky. You have to be more
conservative for one thing. Shots should be aimed more towards the center of
the court. Don't go for the sidelines on your shots.

Also you have to realize which way the wind is blowing and compensate your
strokes each time you change sides. Another key is to shorten up your
strokes and to take your racquet back early. You have to do this because the
ball could change direction at the last minute and you need a shortened
stroke to adjust more quickly to the shot. You can still generate a lot of
power by turning your hips quickly. It's like the Bruce Lee one-inch punch.
He was able to deliver a powerful punch with only a one-inch wind up.

Then you have to move your feet constantly. The feet have to keep moving
until you are ready to hit the shot. This is especially true on overheads.
Many players like to plant their feet before the ball bounces on their side
of the court. They must keep moving and adjusting position until the shot is
made.

Another key with overheads is to use your wrist to generate power on the
overhead. Get your racquet above your head and accelerate the racquet using
only your wrist. You'll be amazed at all the power you can easily generate.
This will help because the wrist can be adjusted the last second whereas if
you use your whole arm it will move too slowly and you will miss 9 times out
of 10.

2) Peak Performance Meal

I've found over the years that eating Raw Foods was a way to experience Peak
Performance in my everyday life. So what I've included below is a recipe for
my staple meal that I eat once or twice per day. I call this recipe Raw
Power Gruel.

Benefits I have felt from Raw Power Gruel

1. Clears away mental fog
2. Provides sustained and healthy energy
3. Increases mental alertness
4. Makes me feel more vibrant and energetic
5. Slows the aging process and makes me look and feel younger
6. Makes me happy from a cellular level
7. Expands my creativity

Raw Power Gruel Recipe:

Purchase Raw Oat Groats from a health food store. They are not the regular
rolled variety and must be called oat groats. Otherwise it is not raw. They
are hard and elliptical like a grain of wheat. Soak them in room temperature
water for 24 to 48 hours. Then rinse. Get a blender.

Put in as much oats as you want to try in the blender, maybe a half cupful
to start. Then put in a banana and add water so you can blend the mixture.
If you add too much water it will be too liquidly and hard to blend. You'll
learn by experimentation. Then add powdered Spirulina from the health food
store. I also add sea salt and cayenne pepper for flavor (It's optional). At
the very end I add ground up flax seeds. You can buy them ground up already
or you would have to grind them yourself in like a coffee grinder or nut and
grain grinder. Flax seeds can also be obtained at a Health Food Store.

I don't know exact amounts because I just add by instinct. Add raw honey if
it needs to be sweetened. Sometimes I blend in 2 or 3 bananas. Sometimes I
add more flax seed. The flax seed is a fat and will help sustain you with
long-term energy. Also the oat groats are a complex carbohydrate for
sustained energy. There at least you have a good raw meal to start the day
healthy and energetically.

Sometimes instead of using Oat Groats I use raw soaked sunflower seeds or
soaked almonds. If you use these two as the staple then you don't need to
add the flax seed because there will be plenty of fat in the meal. Soak
these at least 8 hours. Raw sunflower seeds can also be sprouted if you
desire it.

3) Junior Tennis League

Do you want your kids to play better tennis and have lots of fun in the
process? Then I highly recommend East Brunswick Racquet Club's Junior Tennis
League (JTL). I've noticed over the last few years that the kids who were in
this league improved much more than kids who took lessons only. Plus the
kids get to play matches against many different players and learn about
teamwork. All players will receive t-shirts and trophies and we have a pizza
party on the last day. All the players will also receive on court
instruction to help improve their match play. Each child will get to play at
least two matches. The matches could be doubles or singles.

A new session is starting and we are looking for more players to join. The
JTL is played on Saturday's from 2:30 to 4:30pm or 4:30 to 6:30pm. It is a
12-week season. The cost is $75 for Junior Program Members and $90
Non-Members. Then you bring $7.00 per match. This makes it easier for you if
you have to miss a week or two. You only pay the $7.00 if you play that
week.

5) Certification Upgraded to Master Racquet Technician

I've just passed the latest Master Racquet Technician update test. This is
the highest stringing certification by the United States Racquet Stringers
Association. This certification tests a stringer on many areas beyond just
stringing. It includes racquet customization: building up grips, changing
grommets, strategically adding lead tape to improve a racquets performance
and sweetspot location. I was also tested on the latest racquet technology
by the racquet manufactures as well as some of the rule changes to pro
tennis and experiments they are doing to tennis balls on the pro tour.

from the health food store. I also add sea salt and cayenne pepper for =

ground up already or you would have to grind them yourself in like a =
coffee
grinder or nut and grain grinder. Flax seeds can also be obtained at a =
Health
