I was surprised by the changes this year, and like Ben
I enjoyed the new course more.
If you did not pre-ride it there are two changes
compared to last year. The first is after the fire
road descent from the top of Hurl Hill. The new
course follows a trail used in last year's 24 Hour
race, and adds more single track.
The second change is much larger. Hike-a-bike is
bypassed and replaced with a longer section of trail,
which is mostly single track. The new section has a
short steep lose fireroad downhill which might be
problematic if you're riding in a group - there are
not many good lines to pick from, so be careful if you
have limited visability due to other riders. The
remainder of the section is fairly sandy.
It should be fun!

Max and ROMP Race Team,
Sorry I missed this opportunity to preride with the
team. I did ride the XC course on Friday, however.
Let me say this: "awesome!!" I will miss the
hike-a-bike (tho' many won't), but the additional
singletrack is worth it.
Anyone not racing Sea Otter should seriously
consider doing the fun ride or epic ride, or at the
very least go to Laguna Seca and just ride.
For gravity junkies... don't bother going yet to
practice. Check the Sea Otter website first. The
DS and MtnX courses aren't finished yet. The DH was
closed Fri as the rifle range was open.

For those of you that care, the ride start time has
changed.
Meet at 9a (Laguna Seca), roll out at 915a. The plan
as posted on the
website will stay the same. Questions, contact me!
Thanks and apologies for the cyber-clutter.
