any comments on hilti vs upat? cheers,

Yes we have tested both the Hilti & Upat expansions.
The Upat with the double collar actually does not work
at all in harder rock types (most of what we bolt in).
The mechanism relies on the collar digging into
concrete (what they are designed for) but this cannot
happen with harder rock. The Hilti on the other hand
works well because it jams in.

In all the tests the Upat bolts pulled out in tact at
fairly low forces, all the Hilti's pulled out with the
expansion mechanism staying behind.

With steep or overhanging rock Upat's are at risk,
they may be strong enough on slab or vertical rock but
lets not risk people's lives over a few rands.

Cheers
Joffrey
