Re: No to Glue-in Anchors  Joffrey Hyman

Until we can be assured that the glue being used will last we are
taking
a great risk in using them. Also from my testing I have seen that
certain
glues do not bond at all to certain rock types/metals.

I also would like to mention that most glues get very hard and brittle,
when we fall & shock load the bolts this glue often cracks and the bond

breaks!

Petzl (last year I think) asked everyone that had use their Batinox &
Colinox bolts which were for sale for many years to check the bolts as
they were experiencing failiures with the glue bonds. From the testing
I
had done I noticed that the Hilti capsule glue they were using would
not work very well. This is shocking as one would expect a company
like Petzl to do more thorough testing!

At coastal areas stress corrosion cracking(SCC) major problem and
there glue-9ins may be unavoidable but once again how long will the
glue last? SCC can still occur in stainless steel if glued in,
especially
if the bolts have been bent or welded!
