How come black is such a common color for bike tires?
Sure road tires sometimes come in different colors, but when it comes
to the
average bike, the tires are almost always black.
Personally I think it looks way better with ex yellow or green tires!

Very simple
The black comes from carbon. Its main function is to make the tire
stronger and more wear resistant, so keep it black

You are right in theory. I think it was Mr. Goodyear who invented
carbon black for use in tires. Car tires in the beginning. It improves
life of the tyre and grip in wet. But tire manufacturers keep
developing new things, and they have started using other things like
silica instead, so tires can be colored, I think you are right, that
they don't grip as well in the wet. But I also think, that the
difference is small. The best colored tires are probably better than
the worst black tires.
I also normally use black tires. But I got a new bike this year, and
it came with red Continental Grand Prix 3000, and i haven't noticed
them to be worse than other tires. They have lasted 2000 km so far with
no problems and only minimal wear. It's hard to measure grip, but they
haven't skidded out on me yet.
