SCCCC Road Championships  Achterberg, Gary
 Apr 21, 2008 10:47 PDT
Hello SCCCC,

First, thanks to Cameron and everyone from Texas State for putting on a
very nice weekend of racing. The hill climb definitely was unique and
fun, and the car track was an awesome place for the crit.

We're looking forward to hosting all of you here in Wichita Falls this
coming weekend for the conference championships.

We're running registration for a couple of hours on Friday evening -
between 6 and 8 p.m. - in the student center on the MSU campus, however
I'd strongly encourage all teams to just send me an e-mail BEFORE 4 P.M.
ON FRIDAY with your start lists. My e-mail address is
gary.ach-@mwsu.edu <mailto:gary.ach-@mwsu.edu> . Please
include:

*         The rider's name

*         The season-long racing number

*         Race category.

Also, please say in your e-mail who is going to be on your team time
trial teams. Men can start teams of three or four riders. Women can
start teams of two to four riders. Riders can "race up" for the TTT. For
instance, you can put Mens Cs on a Cat. B TTT team but have them race Cs
for the other events of the weekend. If I get all of this information
with registration, I'll have TTT start lists posted at the road race on
Saturday morning.

When riders arrive at the road race on Saturday morning, they'll have to
fill out a release form before they can start. I'll catch up with team
leaders during the weekend to collect entry fee money. If a rider needs
a race number, Matt Reynolds will be at registration on Friday night as
well as at the road race start on Saturday morning.

Please just send one registration e-mail for each team. I'll reply ASAP
so you know the e-mail was received.

A few things to be aware of:

n The road race course is different from last year. It's in the same
general vicinity as last year's on rolling hills - as hilly as it gets
here in Wichita Falls!! The laps are shorter so we can make the race
distances a little more appropriate for each category than we were able
to do last year with the longer loop. Also, there is one minor typo in
the flyer. Women B start at 8:20 a.m. High school starts at 8:25 a.m.
(That's just a five-minute difference than what's listed.) There are
driving directions in the race flyer.

n The TTT course also is different. It will be out-and-back on the road
that was between turns 3 and 4 of last year's road race course. Parking
will be in the same small park where everyone parked for last year's
road race. Please note that parking is approximately a mile from the TTT
starting line. You can warm up on the road that parking is on.

n The crit will be on campus, as it has been in the past. We'll have
primes during the races. Conference medals for the individual races, as
well as season-long awards, will be awarded ASAP after the last crit
ends. We'll have some pizza for you while you wait.
