Dream sequences are fairly simple. Just CUT TO wherever the dream sequence
takes place, put in the action as if it were really happening and when it's
done, cut to the dreamer waking up. Don't start it by zooming in on the guy
starting to fall asleep -- that's too lame. (You might not even have to cut back to
the guy waking up, depending on what it is you're trying to accomplish with
the dream). But if you're trying to fool the audience, just treat it like a real
scene, no explanation necessary.
