Am seeking any wartime photographs of the chateau in Marigny-en-Orxois
during the war. It was used as a field hospital during the German drive of
May-June 1918. Elements of the 6th Machine Gun Battalion, 4th Marines, 2nd
Division were also encamped there for a couple of nights in early June, as
well as unknown French units.
The chateau is still in existence, and I have current photos, but seek
photos from the war, as well as any information. If a photo can be found,
it will be included in a memoir (to be published by McFarland) of a Marine
who was there, and who devoted a whole section of his memoir to a
description of it.
Would like to know who long the chateau was used as a field hospital, and
which units, American & French, were billeted there. Also whether it was
ever under German occupation.
Thanks,
