At propane refilling places you pay by the gallon, not by the "container".
It really shouldn't matter at the pre-filled places as long as they are all
being filled to legal capacity, presumably they all hold the same amount.
If you are concerned the place you deal with isn't honest, perhaps investing
in one of those meters you put on the top would be worth the expense, it
would seem handy to know if you are close to running out anyway. A couple
of those small tanks would be the most mobile solution and should last a
single person like Gig quite a while. But you can get bigger sizes that are
also mobile if the small tanks aren't big enough for you.

Why is that? I wonder if I took my own (old) tank to the Propane
location, if I could fill my old tank completely full? Is there a
danger to filling a propane tank to the top?
