John;
| | I'm sure this has been mentioned several times in the past, but just in
case... I found this link to three you-tube videos regarding frugal
living on another site. These videos document a book that was written in
the 1960s or 70s and called "Possum Living". The videos show a family
(father and daughter) living in a house near a small town in
Pennsylvania without working. Sorry if you've already seen these videos
recently, but didn't want anyone to miss it. This is the link to the
first of the three videos.>

Below is a good review on that book 'Possum Living', written by a 19 year old girl in the 70's.
It looks like my kind of book.

Possum Living: How to Live Well Without a Job and With Almost No Money was written in the mid-1970s by a teenaged girl named Dolly Freed. She lived with her father on half an acre outside Philadelphia. The book was originally published in 1978.
Possum Living contains information on
a.. Raising rabbits, chickens, pigs, and goats for meat
b.. Catching and cooking fish
c.. Gardening
d.. Preserving food
e.. Making moonshine
f.. Low-cost housing
g.. Utilities
h.. Clothing
This book does take cheap to extremes. (It reminds me of Thoreau's Walden.) Most of us don't want to live like this. But for those interested in frugality or homesteading, there's plenty to be gleaned from these pages.
