It depends on your ability as a cyclist and the base vehicle you want
to use. Try building a "mule" version first to see how well you ride
that without a fairing before you commit to a faired bike. You might
find that all you really need is the basic layout of a streamlined
bike, getting low to get out of the wind. The fairing does add visual
mass to the bike making you harder to miss visually and more likely to
be avoided physically, as well as cargo space for whatever you might
want to take with you for your daily tasks. I found the inside of my
front fairing was a great place to keep a coffee cup, along with 2
water bottles and all my bike's electronics, all within easy reach if
required.
