Re: Streamliner for Commuting  JOHN TETZ

I'm thinking of building a streamliner for commuting. Lots of lights
and stops around here. Would you suggest two wheels or three?

.......I have had many years of streamliner experience where I used it for running errands, some commuting, some racing and several long distance self supported touring (mostly in a Lightning F-40). Streamliners are thrilling. They are aerodynamic addictive.

However two years ago I decided to investigate trikes, so now I have a Velomobile which I use mostly for running errands. Let me say that the trike is sooooo much better for local alternate transportation. The trike is much more relaxing specially coming into busy intersections. You simply look for traffic and if there is something coming you put on the brakes and stop - no need to frantically unclip your feet and get them down as you have to do to hold a streamliner up.

If your distances are great then a streamliner may be the way to go. The streamliner is much faster meaning less effort from the rider. Streamliners can be a lot lighter than a trike based VM.

I have it pretty good. I have a streamliner, a VM and a bare FWD bike.
