What do you expect, the CHP has always been against bicycles and bicyclists.
They have no interest in demonstrating any empathy towards cyclists in any
fashion. The only regret they have is that the can't ban them or write them
out of the vehicle code! I have noticed a preponderance of police officers
making inacurate quotes to media outlets, just another shining example of
the propoganda campaign against automobile non-conformists.

(b) Any person operating a bicycle upon a roadway of a highway,
which highway carries traffic in one direction only and has two or
more marked traffic lanes, may ride as near the left-hand curb or
edge of that roadway as practicable.

The persistent misrepresentation of Code is the reason the loss
of AB1408 (I think I have the number correct) is so tragic.
