| | My issues with SUV's are:
1. Solo Roll Over: 5000 deaths per year VS 1000 bike deaths/year & 5000 ped
deaths/year)
|
Why should you care if SUVers roll over and die? You hate them all
anyway. It's a free world - live with it.
| | 2. Higher threat to pedestrians: 2-3 times more likely to die if struck
by an SUV: see PubMed abstract at bottom
(It would be interesting to see how many bicyclist are killed by SUV's
as a function of the number of SUV's on the road)
|
Pedestrians and bicyclists need to stay on the sidewalks anyway.
| | 3. Bull bars: Higher likleyhood of killing peds
|
This is bull and you know it. Pedestrians/cyclists on the sidewalks never
hurt anybody.
| | 4. Lower Emission requirements vs cars
|
SUVs are bigger than cars so this just makes good sense.
| | 5. Poor Gas Mileage => dependence on middle eastern terrorist funding
nations
|
We already own Iraq (2nd biggest oil field on earth) so this is no longer
an issue.
| | 5. Poor Gas Mileage => increase in global warming emissions
|
Now that the North Pole is melting we can EASILY get to the Anwar petroleum
deposits. So this is an advantage not a disadvantage. And there is no
issue with elk or reindeer since they have left due to the warmer climate
and change in vegetation already.
More SUVs (less cars) will solve that problem. Also the stewpid car
manufacturers need to put more large steel beams in the doors. This is
easy to do.
| | 7. High dealer markup => increase in debt burden for families
|
Everybody makes more money. The economy takes off as more and more money
changes hands. It's good for everyone.
| | 8. High crash threat to cars due to frame construction:
|
I already answered this one.
