Do you grow your own food and sew your own clothes, or otherwise
use strictly local products?   Whether we drive, or pay others
to do so, is the same.

I am as anti-Hummer as virtually anyway. I had a an anti-Hummer
letter published in the Palo Alto Daily at the start of the "war"
(it was a response to an article on increasing sales).
But my point is that we are all part of the problem, and
we always need to keep in mind the broader message. Getting
Hummers off the road will barely make a dent in saving the
Earth; it's at best a symbolic gesture. Really, a broad-based
general effort towards reduced consumption is needed.
