multimedia suites versus computers in classrooms  Maggie Purnell
 Apr 25, 2008 17:50 PDT
Hi,
The school where I teach a yr 7 & 8 (11-13 yo's) class is about to upgrade its computers. The plan is for a computer suite, but I feel it is important to have computers at a ratio of say 1:2 or 1: 4 at least in the classroom, so they can be used across the curriculum throughout the day. I do see the value of a suite for teaching skills, or viewing material en masse, but can see downsides as well, eg supervision if students wish to work on their project independently during writing/reading/topic studies time.
I would value the opinion of this forum to gain ideas, so that I in turn can give an informed opinion to the staff.
Many thanks, Maggie Purnell, Waitakaruru, New Zealand.
