Hi ,
This may be a little late since I see that the post is back dated to
May. However I thought that maybe this piece of information might be
useful anyway. I recently explored e-pals for an online class I am
taking. e-Pals is a wonderful sight that connects students here to
millions of students around the world. It also has so very important key
features that may help your ESL students feel more comfortable. It does
allow students to have access to other students all over the world.
Point one thus making them be able to communicate with friends they may
have left. Point two it also has a translator that can help them write
their ideas in one language and translate it into another.
Also this website may also help your non ESL students understand those
ones who are. You can do studies on each country or have the students
write to pen pal from that other country so they learn about the
language, culture, etc of their new friends.
This website also lets you collaborate lessons and projects with other
teachers all over the world. This may help you because you will be able
to speak to teachers in that country that may help you understand the
language barrier or the way in which they teach students there.
Finally this website is useful for students of all ages. It is kid
friendly and protected. This may be a great way to grab their students
attention at the beginning of a unit by letting them know they are going
to have a e-Pal, and also make them comfortable.
