In a utopia we would have computer access for all kids throughout the
day. However, with funds being cut, programs being cut and the need to
focus on NCLB ( thus turning the kids into standards focused rather than
content) , the likeliness of this occurring is not likely. I like the
idea of a computer suite but the necessity of having to supplement with
laptops and cross classrooms would need to be recognized by the staff.
For example, if you were doing a partner virtual field trip that you
would have access to another teachers computers for the kids to complete
the log.
I would love to have access to 1:4 computers as I have classes of 30
with 3 computers in my room. However, I have a projector hooked up to
my internet to share ideas with the class as well as access to 3
computer labs ( nightmares to get into ) and 2 lap top carts. Good luck
