two past topics come back to haunt me

Maybe this would have been better to post on Halloween.
Remember how we were discussing floors and I said even though it is messy, carpet is my favorite because it isn't slippy?
And more recently, poor Molly has torn her ACL?
Well, my old poodle slipped on the hardwood and tore his ACL. Doesn't that just figure? And he was standing still! Big Pie bumped him and his leg slipped and he cried out and came up on three legs.
Because he is so old and a small dog and not active at all, I thought I'd try the "rest" method. Crate him and see if it gets better. Well, that only lasted a day because he whined all night and all day until I let him out. And he is crate trained, he just can't be apart from me. Interestingly, it has gotten much better, even with him walking around. All he does is walk around the house, so he is not going to reinjure it. He is putting weight on it and walking pretty normally. I put even more rugs on the wood floor, and when ever the foster puppy is out running around I pick him up so he doesn't get bumped or run over. Poor little Blossom.
Just thought I'd share...
